Heaven awaits all who believe in Jesus’ name. Love and authority flowing through us today are realized to the extent that Jesus is our life. Salvation is more than once you were not on you way to heaven and now you are. Salvation is Jesus, which is to say Jesus is a life – a life in the Spirit of Christ in which we are formed into a new state of being. We have become sons and daughters of God.
We can be sons in theory and sons in actuality. The latter happens when we embrace God’s Son and allow Him to be our life. We are incarnated with the life and the companionship of God. Our authority on earth and later in heaven depends on the degree to which we have ceased living from our life to receive Him as our life. We can have Jesus as our life or we can have ourselves as our life with a garnish of Jesus. The latter is religion. The former is spirit and life.
Our fruitfulness for Jesus today and the authority we have as sons depends on our trust in Father and what He has done for us in Jesus. Spiritual authority grows from humility, teachability and keeping in step with the Spirit.
Where are we finding our identity and acceptance right now? Are we the local church workaholic? Is our identity in Jesus or in some denomination or ministry? Are we looking to others for approval? Do we work to be accepted by others who we deem significant? Or do we only do what Jesus is doing because He and we are one?
'Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life' Gal 6.8 NIV.
This is not an unkind saying. Just a statement about life. Agree that Jesus has put you to death in His cross and agree that He has resurrected you in His resurrection and life.
People can build large structures of of non-life and the religious will applaud. There's a difference between religion and the Kingdom. One comes from earth, the other from heaven; one is flesh and the other spirit. One is carrion, the other living bread. One is death and the other life. One is us and our stuff. The other is Jesus and resurrection power. Jesus is not near our life. He is our life.
'You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit--fruit that will last' John 15.16 NIV.
LEAP OF FAITH
It takes risk and a leap of faith to live in Jesus; to accept that all the acceptance and love we need is in Him. Yet this way is also the source of our greatest fruitfulness and Kingdom authority. To strive for acceptance in law keeping or conspicuous effort is to deny the power of the cross and His love. Christian workaholism is more serious than at first appears because it is a denial of Jesus and what He has done for us.
Did you know that even His faith is our faith. This is the vicarious humanity of Jesus.
With His life as our life we are liberated from the body of death – set free from our guilt and shame and united to Jesus’ grace and glory. Not only is Jesus God. He is man. As such He is the real man and the ultimate man. To receive Jesus into our being is not only to become one with God. It is to grow relentlessly into our real selves. How good is that?!
