Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

IDENTITY AND AGENCY

Jesus lived out of union with His Father. Jesus only did what Father was doing. Unlike those about Him He lived neither from the law or their tradition. He lived from God. This enabled Jesus to live from Himself and be Himself. This is the ‘living way’ of true agency and identity. It’s what sons of God do.

Jesus, Father and Holy Spirit were one and Jesus lives in this oneness. Jesus lived not only to reveal God’s nature. His life mission was to share with His brothers and sisters the relationship that had always been among the members of the trinity. This is what is meant by ‘May they be one as we are one.’

‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20

The nature of God is Trinitarian. When we have our being in Him we have chosen fellowship in this fullness. This is to say that when Christ is our life, we have the life of the trinity as unique individuals and as the community of the saints. Their community is in us and is ours.

TOGETHERNESS IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

Thus Jesus draws all into Himself. ‘And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ-everything in heaven and on earth’ Eph 1.10 NLT.

The source of our togetherness is the at-one-ment achieved by the trinity. The experience of togetherness – of genuine community - is our interwoveness with their being. This is the means of heaven invading earth. It’s the incarnation.

Holy Spirit and the gifts are integral to this interwoveness of God and humans. This is their source. Heaven will not invade earth to any great extent if what we have is a bunch of gifts and ‘words’ welded onto the regime of separation and death that once was and which God ordained to have passed away and to which we still cling. Jesus does not sanctify and energise Adam's regime of son, separation and death.

NEW CAR/NEW ENGINE

Say you find an ancient car wreck in a field – like a 1934 Buick straight Eight. It has no engine. This was pirated for parts long ago. Nevertheless you tip petrol into the engine bay and attempt to drive off. You go nowhere. The car is a rust bucket and has been separated from its source of locomotion. So what?

This is what we do when we attempt to add a holy spirit anointing to our old covenant vehicle. God left this car behind at the cross. So should you. Sure there can be droplets of anointing. God is gracious. But there will be no rivers of spirit and life. We cannot really be said to be ‘doing what God is doing now’ if we have not entered what was achieved over 2000 years ago.

Paul declares, ‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!’ Gal 2.20,21. This is the new covenant summarised and the source of the new creation declared. It is also the bankruptcy of the old covenant exposed. If we are half alert we need to take this seriously.

SPIRIT OF LIBERATION

Jesus sends His Holy Spirit to folks imprisoned in ‘other gospels’ because He loves to set people free. His intention is that the appearance of the Spirit with power will anoint blind eyes and undo dead ears to the greater glory of Christ in us – of the radically preposterous reality of the Spirit of Father, Son and Holy Spirit manifesting as us. Because Christ has come in our flesh. We can be the body of Christ in theory and the sons of God notionally but when Christ is our life we are the trinity realised in the sons and daughters of God. This is the Kingdom in spirit and in truth. Not in words on stone or in position papers but in the spirits of the trinity manifest as George and Amy. Here is the George and Amy conceived before the foundation of the world. He is the George and Amy living out their destiny as sons of God in spirit and in truth. On this Rock, on this reality, Jesus builds His church.
