IN THE SPIRIT - OR NOT
We can be different to each other in our Kingdom life because we are workers when we could have been sons. We can be marinated in life. Then again we can be preserved in a belief system. A life in Christianity is different to a life in Jesus. There is real life in the latter. A semblance of life in the former. Theologians more astute that I have noted that the Gospel of the Kingdom is Jesus - not Christianity or religion. My growth as a son of God began when I agreed with what Gordon Moyes declared in a book entitled, Discovering Jesus. He said, ‘Christianity is not a religion. It is a person.’
This new covenant life is lived when Jesus is personified in you.
We can give a Bible based teaching and it might be what can be called ‘a solid sermon.’ But there may be no revelation in it because it is not spirit and life. It’s information. There is a lot of theology that is not spirit and life. This needs to come from our being because our being Is one with God.
There is no substitute for new covenant life. There is no life in the Spirit outside the new covenant.
OLD LIFE AND NEW BIRTH
Some of us are different to each other because we have different personalities. Others are ‘different’ because they live in the old covenant instead of the new. Here is a difference that cannot be explained by individuality. This is the difference between life and death; spirit/life and flesh and between new covenant and old.
‘The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life’ John 6.63 NIV.
I mention this because we can speak words of spirit and life or merely fill a religious space with homilies and religious tid-bits. We impart life because we are living in what is ours: Union with God.
Here there is a stream of revelation that comes from Father, through Jesus and Holy Spirit into us. I am embarrassed when I hear sincere people minister information without spirit and life because they are stuck in an old covenant mindset. An unconditional dedication to Jesus will always trump dedication to a belief system or a religious identity.
Christ our life is the key to new covenant, new creation living. With Jesus our life we are joined to our Father and the wisdom, life and love of the universe. We are joined to spirit and life. Having trusted Jesus we are rooted in Father and grounded in all that is real, good and true. For this reason it is important that we as Believers receive the gospel of the Kingdom in its fullness, coming out of the shadows into the direct sunlight of the reality of Christ. Don’t be captured by the shadows of the real. The reality is Jesus!
This is the truth: Tied to the law we are separated from the Spirit and do not walk in it. It's either Christ our life or the law our non-life. We cannot be Adam and Jesus simultaneously.
‘For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality’ Col 2.17 NIV.
