Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

NEW YOU

PERCEIVE.001
The greatest gift you can be to God and to others is to be yourself. The glory of God is to be who He is. The glory of you is to be who you are. We can never come into this glory independently of God – neither in rebellious independence or in religious independence. The latter is our state of being when we insist on living in old Adam instead of in new Jesus.

NOT A RELIGION

We are not living in Jesus just because we are living out Christianity. We are living Jesus when He, by the Spirit, is our life and we are the effect of His indwelling. This is never something we must strive to accomplish. The glory of this age is that Jesus lives in us to become who we are. This is ours when we REALIZE it and live in it.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Here’s the thing: In Jesus we become who Jesus is and get His relationships as our own.

ADAM’S DEMISE

Adam was seduced into separating from God – in order to become more like God. This is the lie of the fall and remains the lie of religion in a more subtly convoluted form. Here it is the perpetuation of the fall in the guise of a perverted Christianity that has people striving to acquire the union with God and the sonship that is already theirs: ‘Hear us O God!’ His listening is Jesus. ‘Fill me now!’ He is already in you and with you. ‘Keep close to Jesus.’ Jesus, Father and Holy Spirit live in you.

YOUR RISE

The key to being yourself, of living in your real identity is in living in God and living from where He has positioned you – in union and fellowship with the trinity. You will flourish as yourself and fulfil you purpose in God, not by adherence to the law or to rules or by the adoption of certain behaviours. But by agreeing with and living in the realisation that God is in you and you are in God. Obedience in the post cross age is this: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20.

Richard Rohr as a young and earnest Franciscan was striving to be like Saint Francis. “
Finally, one day, [his mentor] said, “Hey Richard, you’re not, and you’re never going to be, Francis of Assisi. You’re not even close, all right? You’re ‘unfortunately’ Richard Rohr from Kansas.” I said to myself, This doesn’t sound nearly as dramatic or exciting. Except when I realized: all God wants is Richard from Kansas. But that’s what I don’t know how to give you, God! It feels so insignificant, and yet this is the liberating secret: I am precisely the gift God wants—in full and humble surrender.” (1)

Christ in us is our hope of glory because hidden in Him we are revealed as ourselves.

We can claim sonship positionally while being outside it spiritually. Should we live from the old covenant we have not been born again. Despite any character improvements we may think we have made, we are not born again when retaining ourselves in Adam or in Moses. Jesus has birthed us out of our Adamic life into His life. Full and humble surrender can mean taking our smugly touted theology to the cross, abandoning the fictions that prop up our false identity at the cross and confidently become sons, not notionally, but in spirit and in truth. ‘Christ our life’ is life in the Spirit which means the completeness of the trinity in you and the joy of you being you!

TRUTH MATTERS

Truth matters. It matters what you believe. If truth does not matter Father had no need to send His Son to reveal the life, the way and the truth.

If truth does not matter Jesus’ cross and resurrection was a waste. If truth is anything you want it to be then Paul’s efforts and Paul’s gospel were in vain.

If a non-gospel is as good as the real gospel we are no better off than Donald Trump. No better than a Trump living in the delusion of his ‘own truth’ and calling anything that differs false facts.

If truth is only relative then there is no such thing as ‘another gospel’ and any distortion of what God did and who we are in Him is valid – because if everything is true and ok there is no truth. But it’s truth that sets us free and as a disciple of Jesus you have a right to truth and its life to the full. As part of the one loaf you are part of the One Truth. We are free to be the life of God as ourselves. But never to create for ourselves our own way and our own gospel.

‘But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!’ Gal 1.8 NIV.
‘The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one’ Matt 13.38 NIV.

Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free’ Luke 4.18.
