Did you know that nothing can separate you from the love of God? That God dwells in you? Did you know that Father will never leave you; that His love and delight in you depends, not on your performance or worthiness but on His love for you? Did you know that this love for you is personal, expressed in His Son Jesus who in Himself as Father of all? No matter what degree of frustration you feel about yourself, no matter what personal shame or self disgust, Father does not reject you. You are always loved, received and at Home in Father.
'No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord' Romans 8.39 NLT.
CHRIST COME IN YOU
Jesus came among us to multiply Himself in mankind. His intention is that each Believer mediate His life to the unbelieving world. Where the first Adam labored by the sweat of his brow with limited fruitfulness the second Adam provides new freedom and unlimited fruitfulness due to His Spirit in you. Do you dream of an influence that lasts forever; that flows onward into eternity? This is your influence when Christ is your life. Jesus came so that all could multiply his life and His ways in streams of living water. This is done in the new and living way of the new covenant where Christ Himself is our life and we touch society and the creation with His resurrection power. It is because Jesus lives in us that our lives multiply His hope, forgiveness, love and light. Our words and actions become spirit and life. Spirit and life is the difference between the Kingdom of God and the Body of Death.
'For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself' John 5.26 NIV.
There are two things Jesus wants us to understand in this season. One is the meaning and application of the new covenant. The other is the reality of our presence in the heart of our Father. We are not only seated with Christ in heavenly places. In Christ we are seated in the Father because Jesus and the Father are one.
'I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity' John 17.23 NIV.
Jesus is one with the Father. He is in you. Therefore you and the Father are one. In the spirit you are what Jesus was. You and the Father are one and you do what the Father is doing. Thus you are a son, delivered from meaninglessness and random acts of religion to mediate His supernatural spirit-life. The life that comes from the sons and daughters of God is as real as the life that raised Jesus from the dead. It's the same life!
The new covenant is expressed succinctly in the Galatians 2.20. We are crucified in Christ, yet we are alive in the Spirit because Christ lives in us. Our old fleshly life in Adam is dead. Our new life in the Spirit in Jesus is igniting our being and building the new creation.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly” Gal 2.20, 21.
The atonement is more than a judicial stroke of the pen. Grace is a life, not your own, in you. Grace is Jesus Christ as you. Pentecost followed the cross just as surely as resurrection follows death. At Pentecost Jesus returned in the Spirit to live in His people. Embracing this reality we are minister competently in the new covenant effectiveness. Should we not embrace it we remain dead men talking.
You have heard the words, 'cheap grace.' Often this is touted to fend off life in the Spirit. There is nothing ethereal about Christ living in us and becoming us. This is more real than the illusion of holiness through self-effort and law-mongering. It is Christ come in the flesh - denied when we cling to old covenant and multiplied when we live in the new.
GREATER THAN MOSES
We can disregard things that we define as valueless. Grace is only cheap when it is ignored in favour of a retreat into the old creation. There is nothing anti-nomian about Christ as your life. Righteousness is a function of life, not life of righteousness. Life comes from God. Not from formulations of the knowledge of good and evil. There is more micro and macro righteousness in Jesus as you than in a mountain of words on stone. We are continually washed, accepted, loved and transformed by a Spirit far greater than Moses. This is Jesus, the first born of the new creation and the law of the spirit of life - the One who transfigures you.
'The Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles' Acts 26.23 NIV.
'And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy' Col 1.18 NIV.
Christ our life is general and specific, whole and part, macro and micro. We are both in the time of His hands and in the moment of His Spirit. We live, move [act] and have our being [body soul and spirit] in Father. Jesus is both the way to the Father and door to being in the Father. Thus we and the Father are one. All that pertained to Jesus’ calling and daily mission is ours. By stepping intentionally each day into the gift of His presence; by affirming that He is in us and our life, we position ourselves to do only what He is doing in the macro and micro of daily living. By His Spirit, our times are in His hands.
COMPLETE IN HIM
There is nothing random about Kingdom ministry. Nothing contrived. It moves continually from alpha to omega. It is teleological in that it manifests the purposes of the Father. Jesus completed every thing set for Him to accomplish by His Father because He lived in and from His Father. This is our new covenant, new creation adventure today. It is the resurrection agency of sons.
'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!' 2 Cor 5.17 NIV.
'The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free' Luke 4.18 NIV.
