What is meant by Paul’s statement, ‘Christ your life?’ It means that Jesus is in every way for us and in place of us. He is entirely our grace. He is who we want to be and who we really are and He is who we are becoming, should we live in Him and not in the religion that carries His name. Christianity could be said to the greatest counterfeit to Christ our life, because Jesus did not leave us a religion to live from. He bequeathed us his life to be manifest through us and AS US. This is the incarnation.
NOURISHED AS SONS
Because Christ is our life we belong in Father’s Family. We are companions of the trinity and of the angels. Our position here is guaranteed by Jesus and it is from this spot that we should live our lives into the world. Christ come in our flesh is by implication the trinity come in us. Drawn into union with Father we are positioned with Him to be nourished into who we really are as daughters and sons of God.
It is this union with God that is essence of our life and the prize of the cross. You are inter-woven with God in you being as is He with you. So you need to drop the specious claims of the law and all retrograde un-gospels and live from truth that you are in God and God is in you.
‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Make this day and every day from now on the realization of the reality that you and Father are one and that the fullness of the god-head bodily lives in you.
John Zens writes, “It is safe to say that the root of most errors in believers’ minds is a failure to appreciate the reality and finality of Christ in the New Covenant. Too many are trying to function with a mixture of law and grace, letter and Spirit, and type/shadow versus substance. So much practice in the history of the visible church has taken its cue from the Old Covenant and not the New.” (1)
Exactly. Holiness is not living in ignorance. Christ is our life individually, as the church and as the new creation. Unless we can live from this base we cannot expect any advance in the Kingdom of God, even with the gifts of the Spirit, since all life is sustained by the rootedness in God that is ours in the New covenant.
The expression of Christ where you are is you.
