When I wrote this post I had seen what Jesus wanted me to see – that Christ is our life. I had heard of the incarnation and new its theological meaning as a construct. I had not realized that is the incarnation that is the big deal of the new testament age. I should have. This is what the Lord’s Table is all about. He said, ‘Those who eat me will live because of me.’ In other words Jesus would manifest as us. His Spirit would be revealed in who we are as sons. Christ your life – the words of Paul – mean that our aim is not to become a collection of admirable qualities. Our glory is to be manifestation of the trinity: The sons and daughters of God. This status of being is much greater than attempting to live a Christian life. It is our glory as sons and daughters of God.
A SLANDERED GOD
Living in you new covenant inheritance you may not have a happier life. But you will have greater well-being. You will have the health and wellness of spirit that belongs to the sons of god who are sons in spirit and in truth. And you will not disseminate religion. You will release streams of spirit and life.
Many Believers have been indoctrinated to believe in a god of law rather than a God of love. Misguided prophets might tell you that law and love are compatible. They are not. The first belongs to the kingdom of Adam and the latter to the Kingdom of Jesus. The law of the Spirit of Life is what God is as trinity and who we are as a result of being incorporated into the Holy Family. The Bible says ‘God is love.’ But what many of us believe is that ‘God is performance.’ The fact is, love is inclusion, belonging and relationship. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life because He is the Door to our belonging in God. He is our life because by Him we participate in the life of the trinity. This is the meaning of this scripture: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. I am writing this so that you will realize this today.
Because of Jesus God lives in you and you in Him. The scripture above means that we and God are woven together in our being. It also means that the trinity lives in us and that they have made us their dwelling. You don’t have to implore God for this, much less earn it. It’s the fact of our new covenant life. Here’s the guarantee.
‘He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit’ Titus 3.5 NIV. We are sons of God in companionship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Live from where God has placed you and not from the lie of separation.
Much can be made of going up to the mountain of the Lord. There is a sense in which we advance and ascend from glory to glory. Yet the mystery of Christ in us means that the Mountain of the Lord is inside us. God is never somewhere else. We are His portable temples. Nevertheless people can become side-tracked by cunningly devised fables. Joseph Prince in The Power of Right Believing, puts it this way. ‘Today many believers come before Him with apprehension and trepidation, presenting their failings to Him and quickly leaving before they get the punishment and condemnation they think they rightly deserve from Him. They perceive Him, exclusively as a God of holiness, judgment, and justice, His face steely and stern, His mighty arms folded in dissatisfaction and disapproval. They see a God who is easily displeased, quick to anger, perpetually disappointed with them, and waiting impatiently to be placated. This wrong belief of who God really is has driven many into fear, guilt, depression, and insecurity.’
The truth is opposite to this: God desires you, delights in you, sees you in His Son and Has made you one with Himself.Love, life and joy come from the Father. Love is a person: Jesus. By resting in His love, this love soaks into our spirit and we become love and joy. By living, moving and having our being in the Father, where we are truly at home and truly loved we flourish in freedom and joy. We become lovers God, of ourselves, lovers of life and lovers of people. Because Christ is our life we are a life-giving spirit. ‘So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit’ 1 Cor 15.45 NIV.
Thousands of Christians are trapped in an upside down version of the Kingdom. They busily absorb themselves in so called Christian things in order to gain God’s approval and gain His life. But they are already desired and celebrated in Christ; they already belong and simply by believing that they are one with our Father they can be imparters of life to anything they touch. The drugged Christian attempts to draw life from things. The sons and daughters of God impart spirit and life to everything that touch – because they are life.
IMPARTERS OF LIFE – OR NOT
Law is a kill-joy because it is not the natural source of our being. The Father is. The Father is ultra-person, ultra love and ultra-life. He is Spirit. You’ve heard of ‘dumbing down.’ If you live in law/performance you will dull-down everything you touch. You will be driven to categorize and systematize every spirit flame that comes your way – which is why Paul asserted that the letter kills. Only the Spirit gives life.
