A STATE OF BEING
I don’t write much about morality. Not that is not important. But it was not Jesus’ over-riding priority, so it is not mine. His priority was that we become one with His Father. Jesus passion is that we accept Him and receive Him for who He is: Life in Person. Once we have agreed that Jesus is who He is and have chosen to believe Him as Savior of the world and the savior of us, we begin to be drawn into His person and into our Father. He has already been drawing us with the Tractor Beam of His love and presence. They - God - the Trinity - all have. They will not rest until they have us to enjoy our company and to imbue us with who we really are: The sons and daughters of God.
Holiness is a state of being. Wholeness is being a son in spirit and in truth.
We are not a project. Not to God. As daughters and sons we are who we are. As children of I AM we gain our real identity and authentic personhood from our union with Father. In Him we are transformed, taking on the likeness and reality of the sons of God. Christ, Jesus, the Son of Man and Son of Mary is our life. Not only the hope of glory. We grow each day into the present reality of our unique expression as a child or our Father and the brothers and sisters of Jesus that we are.
Righteousness overtakes our person as Jesus to imparts Himself to our being. When Paul re-stated the saying of some philosophers of the day, He was stating a simple and profound truth. In Jesus we live, move and have our being. Not only are we the the righteousness of God in Christ. We become increasingly our unique selves to minister life as the persons we were designed to be before the earth was made. The Kingdom of God advances not only from the miraculous. It surges ahead when all of us who believe, live in the miraculous simplicity of who we are as daughters and sons of God.
I read today, a post from a young woman who chooses to write not about Christianity but about Jesus. This makes my heart sing! There is life in no other name and in no other things - not in any entity or abstraction or religious stance. Not even in His stuff. A woman I know at a Christian school stunned her colleagues with this remark in staff worship. ‘Anything that is not Jesus is a waste of time!’ Laugh out loud! This really is the LOL of all LOLS! It’s the truth.
We can live from Christianity or from our beliefs. We can live from a matrix of assumptions, from things we do and do not do, of things we believe and do not believe. But this is not the Kingdom of God. Those who live in Jesus, who live a Jesus life are of our Father. They speak from God and for God. Their words and actions are spirit and life. As captives of old covenant thinking we are not a sharp two-edged sword. We are a blunt instrument, unable to discern between flesh and spirit. We are spiritually sluggish and suffer from blurred vision.
In the following passage the writer speaks of the living word and the sharpness of spirit that is those who live in Him. Knowledge of the written word does not produce wisdom, revelation of sound doctrine. The living word alone does this. He is the lens through which we see light, know life and distinguish flesh from Kingdom
‘For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart’ Heb 4.12 NIV.
Christ their life Believers release a spirit of wisdom and revelation that penetrates gloom, unbelief and every lie of the Enemy. Fortunate is any community that has genuine Jesus people in it. They multiply what He began in every way. When Jesus is your life His life is yours. Because He is one with Father so are you. This is not presumption. It is the reality of your life in Jesus. I was on a team a few years back. Our topic was the Spirit of Sonship. Those who lived as sons of God packed a mightier punch than those who studied up on the topic for the occasion. We live as sons when we are new covenant people. Only then are we rooted in our Father. The Kingdom of God is a state of being and a fountain of life. It is spirit and life.
‘When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’ Col 3.4 NIV.
If you have a thing about Jesus you really will have a life: Eternal and infinite life will be bubbling up within you making your spirit alive, striking sparks from companions in Christ and shining a light for those who don’t yet know Jesus personally. Should you have made a point of knowing and living from Jesus you will be increasingly drawn into Him and into the presence of Father and Holy Spirit. Flesh and un-godliness will be sloughed off and spirit and life will marinate your person. Streams of living water will flow from your being and you will multiply a deep kind of life that comes only from God.
‘The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life’ John 6.63 NIV.
