Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

As a so called lay-person, of which there are none in the new testament, you owe it to yourself to enjoy Christ as your life, rather than affix Him as an add-on to yours. There are people who spend much of their lives looking for the right church, searching to find a fellowship that has it all together and doing the right thing. They are looking for a reflection of themselves - of the self that is a human doing. But life. peace and fruitfulness flow out of being - of being a daughter or a son. Your life is found in your being a son!

We were always notionally sons. Today we are sons in spirit and in truth. Sonship is the province of new covenant living. The Bible says, ‘Now we are the sons of God.’ In the old testament we lived outside our inheritance, separated from union with God. There was no incarnation and no spirit of sonship. David came closest to it by grace and His passion for God. David was a prophetic figure of the person who is one with God in Christ. Today you are positioned in God by act of God. Many believers need to start living from where they are rather than continuing to jump through hoops of man’s devising and the Thief’s robbing. We have been made sons in spirit. We need to live this in truth simply by believing in what He has done and agreeing to the gift of our sonship. We have an inheritance in the free woman that is not ours unless we step into it. So step right in because you are not an orphan.

‘Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is’ 1 John 3.2 NIV.

Should you be a teacher, preacher or Christian minister of any kind, you owe it to yourself and others to be competent as an apostolic minister of the new covenant. To minister in any other guise is to minister a truncated gospel, a gospel of limitation that stifles growth and the potential of the Believer. The gospel of the Kingdom is so good it has always strained credibility.

‘He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life’ 2 Cor 3.6 NIV.
The most daring teaching and writing comes from the most deep-rooted in Father and the radical nature of His plan – that is Christ in you and as a result, you in Father.

‘I and the Father are one’ John 10.30 NIV.

There is nothing reasonable about the gospel of the Kingdom. We might be urged to reason together, but the gift of life in God that has always been ours from first to last defies any criteria that could be deduced from the knowledge of good and evil. It can only be received as what it is: The revelation of God in Christ. The adoption of sons in Jesus.

‘But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago’ Rom 3.21 NLT.

Saul of Tarsus rejected the way as obnoxious to God. He chained up The Way’s followers and was responsible for the death of some. The new and living way is so radical that it is an offence to the religious and foolishness to the godless. But it is the life of God in Christ in you. The effect of our belief, of our acquiescence in His Plan is peace, rest and life in God. We become alive with the life of God because He is and we are – ourselves!

‘But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago’ Eph 1.11 NIV.

When Christ is our life we become alive and awake to the beauty of Father and the potential as ourselves as sons and daughters of God. A Christ-life is as different to a Christianised version of the knowledge of good and evil as is real life from a coma. Masses of Christians try to live in the knowledge of good and evil with Jesus help. A famous movie entitled
Awakenings told the story of some who were awakened from mental degeneracy to the brightness of cogent life. It’s a parable of our living in Christianity when we could be living in the person of Jesus. If we are joined to the law or the more generalised culture of Christianity and have never entered the reality of Christ our life, we could ask ourselves why we have settled for a body of death instead of infinite spirit and life.

The life available in the Son of God is not the opposite of death. Neither is it the counterpoint of pain. It is life itself. Life infinite and overwhelming in grace, love and joy. This is a new and living way. The life that is Christ your life is as different to law-centric living as a living person is as different to a corpse. Why? Because tied to the law your spirit is dead.

Don’t settle for religion when you can have
The Life. Don’t malinger in the old covenant when you have the new. Don’t cling to death when you have the new creation. Don’t be a worker and a bore when you are a son! In Jesus we get a new and living way and a new and living life. Life cannot now kill our dreams. Father’ life around and in us ensures that our dreams will be realised. We will manifest life ourselves in accordance with our design!

Jeff Turner writes,

‘If I'm not tempted to throw a book across the room at least once, I'm probably not reading the right book. If we want to grow and go beyond the status quo, we must be willing to immerse ourselves in ideas that make us squirm and grimace. Reality is not always pleasant initially, but it sets us free 100% of the time.’
