We have the potential to live life to the full today. Sure there is the weakness of the flesh, abrasions from other people, personal disease and the pain of death when loved ones pass away. But in the middle of this there is always life to the full. The spirit and life that is Jesus, which belongs to heaven and eternity, lives in us as our inheritance to comfort our hearts and be released as living water into the world.
The illusion of every false gospel is that we live in separation from God; in some dichotomy where the good and the fellowship of heaven is separate from our being.
This is why we must live in Jesus and not in substitutes, counterfeits, false gospels and false Christs. Don't live in any kind of shadow when the reality is Christ. Shadows can be religion, Jesus stuff or a churchly institutionalised life. If you are a pastor you can do better than manage ‘churchism.’ You can draw people into the fullness of Christ their life. You can undo old covenant myths and introduce the people to what has been present truth ever since Pentecost.
‘As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father’ 1 John 2.24 NIV.
In that way you will be a colaborer with Jesus in the church He builds - the church that is the expression of Himself in people. This is a different community to the try harder gospel that drives institutionalism. Since I learned of life in the Spirit, of the incarnation of God in each of us, of the truth that there is no longer us and God, but rather us in God, I have had no attraction to promise boxes and the reading of promises. I prefer to live in the present reality of God in us and with us. Here affirm the authority of the King over situations and the Enemy. Not saying promises are bad. But for me they have the taint of us attempting to twist His arm by reading Himself to Himself. They have, to me, the connotation of looking to an ideal that is not yet. But in reality we are living in the accomplishment of His life and His heaven as our reality to be released where we are.
Jesus walked about releasing heaven into earth. We are here to do the same.
We need to place the words Christ our life together with 'Has made the two one.' Deity lives in us and the separation wrought between humanity and God has been undone. Jesus is in all things our relationship to God and each other. He is our God, our life and our union with God, society and the creation. Jesus is bringing all things together in Himself. He is bringing us into His infinite life. Eternal life is the end result of infinite life and this fullness begins now. Jesus, His life, the life and presence of God is not somewhere else. We do not live in an us and Him dichotomy. Not unless we are in the old covenant mindset.
So enough of this 'what would Jesus do' and 'keeping close to Jesus' talk. You are incapable of this intimacy in yourself and He has the problem covered. He lives in you and with you. Not even your sins can separate you from God because God has made us one with Him through His Son.
‘And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory’ Col 3.4 NIV.
‘For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility’ Eph 2.14 NIV.
‘For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers’ Rom 8.38 NIV.
