Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

POST TRUTH AGE

It’s a pity that for many the reality of Christ our life has been dumbed down to ‘Christ our law’ or ‘Christ all the things we as Christians ought to be doing.’ It’s is a pity because our inheritance – the gift of Jesus for us, in us and as us, has been reduced to this form of robbery.

Jesus did not leave behind a religion. At Pentecost He sent Himself to live in you.

This negation of the life that is a phantom of our real life in Christ is the work of the Thief and Murderer of life – who having seen the extravagant inheritance of the sons of God has set about replacing Jesus with the religion of Jesus. To live from ‘Christianity’ is to live from a culture of legalism. It is not the Kingdom of God because it is not Christ our life. Nothing of the incarnated Jesus to be seen here. Living an old covenant life in the new covenant age cripples our being and our spiritual vision.

I was shocked when a good Christian person wrote on Facebook in response to the outcome of the United States elections, ‘Thank God for that.’ Fortunately we cannot blame God for that but we can hold responsible a whole lot of Christians who could have known better. Let’s be clear. Upholding morality is not the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life is the Kingdom of God. His Kingdom was never a religion and always a person – Himself.

The vanity of a subtle and gross legalism; the cultural legalism that precipitated the choice of Donald Trump as president is alarming and revealing. Revealing in that it exposes the true nature of parts of what we call the Christian Church in the United States and in many other places – a mixture of Jerusalem and Babylon.

Opposition to sin is not the Kingdom of Jesus. Christ all and in all is the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is Jesus expressed.

It is tragic that what was meant to be Christ our life has been smothered by old covenant religion and its Try Harder Gospel. It is sad that a legalistic fixation on the evils of abortion and marriage equality – and it is legalism- has blinded the eyes of those who have committed the greater evil of burdening themselves and the free world with Mr Trump. No aversion to abortion can justify the perverse act of voting in this man as president of the United States. Sadly we have been given an object lesson in the foolishness of the United States. But more subtly than this a demonstration of the nature of the spirit of anti-christ – not in the person of Mr Trump – but in the mentality and culture of those who voted for this husk of a person as president of the United States. No light on the hill here!

Religion is a shadow of the real. The reality is Christ and more: He Himself is our life! Our life is not found in Christianity or in the notion of ‘God-fearing’ which itself is too often a projection of our many myths about God onto God together with our legalism, self-righteousness and judgment. ‘God-fearing’ is too often a Christianized version of the knowledge of god and evil.

In Christ you can live as human being without limitation. But not without order. This order, however is not the order you might be thinking of. It's the order of love’ the order of an infinite life - your life in Christ. Your life in Christ graced as a whole and holy person. Christ our life is life in the Spirit - the life of the sons and daughters of God who live not after the flesh but after the Spirit of Christ. Not after the flesh – read the law and religion. After the Spirit – this is Christ’s person as you.

Sons and daughters are alive in the Spirit of Christ who is the law of the Spirit of Life in Person. But the law of the spirit of life is not the law of Moses. Neither is it the knowledge of good and evil with a Jesus topping. It is His life as yours by the Spirit of Sonship.

To be infused with life and light is to be enveloped in love, healing and revelation. Wholeness is not a set of abstractions, a list or a bunch of precepts. It's a life. Descartes almost got it right when he said, 'I think, therefore I am.' What he should have said was 'My life is in God. I am a son, therefore I am.'

'And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son' 1 John 5.11 NIV.

Father sent Himself to earth in His Son. The Son of God has always lived to express the glory of His Father, so His incarnation was a continuation of what He was. In like manner we are a continuation of Jesus because He is incarnate in us. As such we are fully sons and daughters of God and the living expressions of our Brother and Father. Are we perfect? No. We live by grace and faith in the One who gave His life and is our life. Grace is a person who is alive in us and who surrounds us with His Spirit. We are in a state of becoming; a state of growing into the fullness of Christ.

To live in Christ is to be included. Included in the Family of God. Jesus lives to draw all people and all things into Himself. He lives to achieve belonging. In Him the whole world will be made one.

We live by the power of an infinite life. There is nothing infinite about a life in the knowledge of good and evil and the law. It is finite. It fades. Decay is its' essence. Judgment and criticism is its mode. Death is its' outcome. But in Christ you have resurrection and life without limit.

' [Jesus]who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life' Heb 7.16 KJV.

Law suffocates vision because law diminishes the person. Our vision is circumscribed, dichotomized and limited when we are a law bound. Here we seek solutions when what we need is a Life. We describe and delineate when what we need is
a state of being from which to dispense spirit and life. What is your status in the law? It is son of Adam and the letter that kills. What is your state of being when Christ is your life. Your nature is now 'Life Giving Spirit.' Your dispense spirit and life by nature as a son of God.

‘Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me’ John 6.54-55 NIV.

The blood of the new covenant does more than cleanse from sin. It joins us to Christ's life, the life of our Father and the life of heaven. Christ is our life in Himself. He is our life because we are joined to eternity by being linked as sons to our Father in heaven.

The spirit of anti-christ is seen in our substitution of anything that is not Christ for Christ Himself. Could it be that the most subtle counterfeit of the life of Jesus active in us is Christianity itself? Could it be that the false christ of the last days is the projection of our life onto God?

Heaven's life is life itself, original and self-defining. Heaven’s life is sui generis which is to say that the life of heaven exists as original and unlimited life. This is life that is life without limit. Life that is inherently endless and the kind of life defined by itself and not defined in contrast to death. This life is the trinity, is sourced in the trinity and this trinity lives in us.

In this infinite life, love is not appreciated in contrast to hate. It is seen as a person – as God in Christ bringing together all in Himself.

Heaven's life is original and un-derived. It cannot be perceived in the law or in the dichotomies of the knowledge of good and evil. Heaven’s life is fully revealed in the Father and His Son. This is why Christ offers Himself as our life. It is why we must receive Him as our life and our state of being in God as sons. All this so that we can be harbingers of life, of Christ come in our flesh, as conveyors of life without limit.

'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' John 10.10 NIV.
