Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

Jesus never spoke explicitly on the new covenant. But He enunciated it when He said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life.’

Jesus is fully and completely our life in this new testament age. His life in us by the Spirit is not fortified in us by any additives of the law, no matter how minute. Any attempt to live this way dilutes Him in us and cripples our being.

Why should we live in the new covenant and not the old?
1 The new covenant union of Father with Jesus is ours and in the old covenant it is not.
2 New covenant living is to obey Jesus’ teaching with the result that the fullness of God and every member of the trinity comes to live in our being.
3 It was out of Jesus’ oneness with Father that He derived authority and power to overcome every work of the Enemy. Jesus and Father were one and now in Jesus we and Father are one.
4 It was His union with Father that was the source of the Spirit without limit in Jesus life. The Spirit on Jesus, the Spirit in Him and the anointing in which He ministered came not from His ‘being in the Spirit.’ ‘In the Spirit’ came from being a son who was one with our Father. There is nothing stand-alone about the Spirit-filled life. This is a function of being joined to the trinity and one with our Father.

The fullness of Christ in the church is not everyone operating in the gifts. It is people absorbed totally into the spirit life of Christ and the Sonship of our Father. This is the reason and the source of the Spirit without limit.

In the new covenant Christ is our life and our life is in God. There was no incarnation in the old covenant. There was the law that pointed to Christ and the burning bush that pre-figured our transfigured lives. There was also The Presence in the holy of holies that pointed to the day when God would be in us and with us by His Spirit.

Life in the Spirit is not the gifts of the Spirit. The gifts are the result of our life in our Father and the result of the Spirit of Sonship operating in us and in the church. The Spirit of Sonship is code for our new covenant union with God. The ability to produce spirit and life flows from our union with God and never from an abstraction like the law..

‘Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.
These things are being taken figuratively. The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar’ Gal 4.21-24 NIV.

Today, we are children of the free woman, children of the promise and of the spirit and not the flesh. We and our Father are one because all that belongs to Jesus has become ours. Where in the old covenant we were alienated sons, today we are sons in Spirit and in truth. One with our Father we are alive in the Spirit of Sonship. This reality is our normal habitat which makes us multipliers of what Jesus began. Today we ae not deity but we are the sons and daughters of God, authorized to be His life and spread His new creation in the power of the Spirit. This is our life in the Spirit. But not if we have remained in the law. Life in the Spirit is our inheritance. But it is realized only when we live in the God’s present domain of Kingdom authority. This authoritative Kingdom was begun by Jesus. It did not exist under the old covenant and does not exist for us and in our lives should we be careless enough to live from the old covenant rather than the new. We are in the old when we are tied to the law.

‘Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children’ Gal 4.25 NIV.

We are capable of doing what Jesus did and more. But this is not only signs and wonders that illustrate that Jesus is alive and among us. It is the spirit and life of heaven that flows from Father through us and into the things and people we touch. This is the supernatural, yet invisible and ultra-real life of heaven - the water of life and what came out of Jesus - spirit and life.

‘But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son’ Gal 4.30 NIV.

Spirit and life is not available to us should we choose to live in the law and old covenant - which is to live in separation from God and outside the spirit of Sonship. Why? Because if in the law we are not in Christ. Our inheritance is a relationship with God that is union with God as sons; a union where Christ is our life and He lives in us. When we are in this relationship and we are sons and daughters in spirit and in truth there is a flow of life that begins in our Father and flows through us into those we touch and into the projects we initiate. This is the Kingdom of God. But here’s the thing.
5. This is reason 5 for living in the new covenant: Unless we are living in the Spirit of Sonship our efforts are no more than good intentions, devoid of spirit and life and an inhibitor of the Kingdom of God’s Son.
