Jesus is the Door to the life of God, the presence of God and the habitation of God in us. In Jesus life as an a state of being is personified and lives in you!
Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they MAY HAVE LIFE, AND HAVE IT TO THE FULL.
John 10.7-10 NIV.
Any usage, any substitute vine that is not Jesus, robs us of spirit and life. Jesus as Himself is life without limit.
Sometimes we can be boorish and inert to ideas not our own. Or then again we can plod on relentlessly attached to what we have always believed, turning off automatically when something challenges our view. Jesus called this ‘eyes that do no see and ears that do not hear.’ Then again we can see our life as an adventure where we lay down any preconceived notion as we step into fresh revelations of the our freedom to be sons in Jesus.
‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’ Matt 5.3 NIV. They humble along with the pure in heart, will see God. They will know Him and themselves as they are because their absorption in Jesus is undivided and they follow wherever He leads.
Humility is about laying down our ideas and taking on God’s truth. True education is similar. It can mean off-loading our own impressions and assumptions and taking up those ideas that are supported by fact. It’s possible to be devout yet know neither the scriptures of the power of God – even after studying the Bible all your life. As we have noted in these posts, we can be delayed in our development as sons because we are attached to a false christ and a different gospel. Yet when we unconditionally agree to be drawn into Jesus we will know Him as He is and perceive ourselves as we are. There is one lens that accurately portrays God’s truth: Jesus Christ. The key truth of the post cross age is that you and our Father are one. The mirror image of this truth is that He lives in you and that you are being formed in His image.
‘My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I AND THE FATHER ARE ONE.” John 10.27-30.
In Christ you have been made one with God. In Him we are one with ourselves and we are being brought into harmony with who we are in Christ and who we are as unique persons. One with God we are also one with each other, not in striving but because we live in the One Spirit, the Spirit of He who brings all things together in Himself. When Jesus is personally our life the oneness of the trinity becomes the oneness of us.
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. MAY THEY ALSO BE IN US so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one John 17.20-22 NIV.
Genuine community is not a contrived or ‘worked at relationship.’ It is us in the trinity and the trinity in us. We are living in the individuality and unity that is the three in one. Each is totally themselves and each lives entirely so that the other will be who they are. They are in us and we are one with them.
The living Jesus is the truth of your journey in real life now and forever. In Him you have real life because Jesus is life to the full. He is not content that you have bits of life. He is your unlimited life. He draws us into God’s life and continually reveals the truth of who God is, His love for us, His grace and resolve to capture us in His family forever.
‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and SHOW MYSELF TO THEM.” John 14.18-21 NIV.
Holy Spirit lives to reveal Jesus and the Father to our hearts. He reveals the true nature of our Father and the grandeur of the Sonship Jesus has achieved for us in as we live in companionship with Father.
‘But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you’ John 14.26 NIV.
The commands of Jesus are His teaching and presentation of Himself as the light of the world. Jesus’ commands are not the commands of Moses, the law or what is known as Christian values and morality. His command is to receive Him as our life.
Jesus teaching is that He is life Himself. This is what makes us one with God and what transforms our lives into His likeness. Jesus command is to seek Him and know Him. He rewards this obedience with continual revelation of Himself, of our Father and Holy Spirit.
‘Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and SHOW MYSELF TO THEM’ John 14.21 NIV.
Father and Son have intimate knowledge of each other. They know each other in spirit and in truth. The reality of God is found in their fellowship and companionship. Thanks to Jesus we live in their revelation of themselves to us continuously. One only has to decide to follow Jesus and one has entered into a life of continual revelation of God to our hearts and with it the infinite potential of knowing ourselves as sons and daughters of God.
"All things have been committed to me by my Father. NO ONE KNOWS THE SON EXCEPT THE FATHER, AND NO ONE KNOWS THE FATHER EXCEPT THE SON and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him Matt 11.27 NIV.
Jesus imparts this intimate knowledge of our Father to you. Father glorifies His Son to your heart. Holy Spirit bears witness to your heart of the glory of the Father and the Son.
