Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

TOTALLY NEW

CORPSE.001

"This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many," he said to them’
Mark 14.24 NIV.

The new testament involves a complete break with the old. Known also as the new covenant it began with Jesus death and despite the arrangement of the Bible – it did not begin following the last book of the old testament. It began when Jesus cried, ‘IT IS FINISHED.’

‘In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me’ 1 Cor 11.25 NIV.

AN ABSOLUTE BREAK WITH THE OLD

The new covenant is an agreement God has made concerning us. But it’s not of our making. The old covenant was stated briefly as. ‘If you do this, I will do that,’ stated also as ‘Obey and live.’ The new covenant is ‘I have made you alive in my life so that you can obey.’

‘Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever’ John 6.54-58 NIV.

Humans in separation from God proved themselves unable to obey and as such defined themselves out of ‘living.’ Had not God intervened with a plan of His own, we would have remained forever in separation from God.

But He did a new thing. He put in place an arrangement that was not new but old – hatched up before creation. There was no bargain in this, (although it is a bargain because it is free). No more ‘Obey and live.’ To the contrary it may be expressed as, ‘You are alive in Me to be the sons and daughters of God.’ In this covenant we do not have to validate ourselves as sons. Sons of God is what we are in spirit and in truth. We have been validated as sons and included in the Family by God.

‘God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God’ 2 or 5.21 NIV.

CHRIST IN YOU

fully.061

We are the righteousness of God in Christ. This is to say that we are graced with His life. God lives in us and expresses His fullness through the person of Jesus woven into the fabric of our being. We exhibit the fruits of righteousness because we are joined to the Hub of Life: The trinity. Christ Himself is our life – not only the means to life but the expression of Himself in us of all that He is. Is this cool or what?!

So, what are we saying? Simply this. Holy Spirit is not a means of rubbing Holy Spirit oil into something that has outlived its expiry date. Spirit is not here to revive something God made extinct. Holy Spirit in His Trinitarian role minsters Jesus and Father into our being, as well as Herself. The wineskin is the new us: Not only Christ come in our flesh but the entire God-head making themselves at home in our being. The best way to be thankful is not to begin some performance regime. It’s to rest in the fact that you belong in them, that they are in you, they like you and they are empowering you to be the son/daughter that you are. More coolness!
