LIVE IN THE PRIZE THAT IS YOURS
Our inheritance in the new testament age is union with God. Jesus’ prayer, ‘May they be one as we are one’ has been achieved. We have fellowship with the trinity. They have made their home in us and more. God is woven into our being and we into God’s being.
HOME WITH YOU
‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV. His teaching is that He alone is our life.
YOUR TRINITARIAN FELLOWSHIP
When Jesus talked to Nicodemus about being born again, he was speaking of the undoing of the fall and of the achievement of oneness with God through Himself that is a communion even closer and more comprehensive than our pre-fall fellowship. Humans are now one with God in the person of Jesus, the Father and Holy Spirit in an exquisite union that is similar to the communion of the trinity with each other.
DELUSIONS OF SEPARATION
The problem for the Believer who has been socialised into the law as the ground of their being is that she remains separate from God in her mindset. Separate for the reason that the law was a function of the fall, the knowledge of good and evil and the separation between God and man that came about as a result of Adam’s seduction. Now that the law has fulfilled its purpose and has led us to Christ it is redundant. Useless because we are one with God in Jesus.
YOU ARE INCLUDED
We are not separate from God. Live in the union that is yours in Christ.
The disability of the law-keeper is that he is separated from God when God is not separated from him; separated in mindset because the narrative he has accepted as truth is a lie and separated because his ‘other gospel’ leaves him in the separation of the fall and of the law.
SEPARATIONISM – A COMMON DELUSION
Separation is the great darkness that we will live in if we retain ourselves in the law – even when we extol the gifts of the Spirit. This is like giving a derelict truck a new coat of paint and hoping it will take a load to town.
People contained in the law can be sincere people but they are separated from God and separated from themselves (Psst they are not actually separated they just think they are).
They can be religious but seldom spiritual because they lack that inter-twining of being with God that is the new covenant reality of all who have made this pearl of great price their own.
Spirituality is who we are – sons and daughters. Religion is what we are doing, attempting to be the sons and daughters that we already are.
Oneness with God is a reality and not a myth. Oneness with God can be observed in those who enjoy it. People are enriched by those who live it on account of the depth of revelation they share and because they release rivers of spirit and life without effort simply by being themselves.
LIVING IN EXTERNALITIES IS NOT ALIVE
As religious people living in the separation of the law we can share religious information and bits and pieces of the knowledge of good and evil. You can always get enough pieces of the knowledge of good and evil to fill a religious space, and give a something and nothing talk. This will satisfy the Pavlovian Believers who are accustomed to salivate when there is nothing there. But it does not build sons and daughters of God.
THE WHO OF SPIRITUALITY
We are not imparters of spirit and life because we are in fact not spiritual people. Genuine spirituality is oneness with God.*
It is a lived oneness with God that enables us to know God as God is and get a firm grip on the gospel of the Kingdom and recognise false gospels for what they are.
YOU CANT JUST PUT IT ON LIKE YOUR HAT
“In seeking to interpret God’s trinitarian self-revelation through the medium of the gospels and epistles we have to do with an altogether deeper dimension in knowledge. But here it holds true that it is through personal dwelling in Christ and interiorising his Word within us that we enter into a cognitive union with him as God incarnate, and are thereby admitted to an intimate knowledge of God’s self-revelation in its intrinsic wholeness and are enabled to discern the truth of his self-revelation as we could not do otherwise. By indwelling the Scriptures of the New Testament and interiorising their message we become drawn into the circle of God’s revelation of himself through himself.” (1)
* The source of real spirituality is union with God, achieved not because we have earned it but because we believe that Christ is our life. Good deeds, kindness and grace are admirable but this is not spirituality. Not unless it is the fruit of oneness with God. Spirituality is sonship born of union with God. Spirituality is ours when we let the incarnation have its way, so that Christ is us.
