His Kingdom in you and the world

The man or woman you know yourself to be is portrayed to you by the mirror in which you are looking. Gaze into the face, the life, the person of Jesus and you will know who you are.

Christ is your life in every way. Jesus is who you are and who you are becoming. You are graced* with Him and incarnated with His person. This is life in the Spirit. Francois Du Toit writes in Facebook,

“Jesus gives truth its most attractive articulation as we discover in him the pattern of our design; when in the lion king movie, the cub saw his father's face mirrored in the reflection, he knew instinctively that what he saw there was the truth about himself! Suddenly the mocking and sneering lost its effect! “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

People can make a life out of religious blindness and call it ‘their faith’. To know that Jesus is our life and live in that life is to be born again from Adam’s life into Christ our life. ‘Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again’ John 3.3 NIV. Without being born from the law into the Spirit we cannot see God or ourselves with any clarity.

To see Jesus is to see our Father and to know yourself. Don’t be confused by ‘other gospels’ or led by blind guides. Jesus is your light and your mirror. He has received you into His life and fellowship. By living in Him as in ‘Christ our life’ you are being the expression of Jesus and becoming your real self. You are growing out of the false self of externalities, the law and separation and the real self that is you and our Father being one.

We can exist as a false self because we are attached to a distorted gospel. We will not know our real selves unless we have discovered the real Christ – because we have not been content to drift passively along on the conveyor belt of religion. We can be sons/daughters of God or ‘christian product.’

‘The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one’ Matt 13.38. The good seed is alive with spirit and life because it is rooted in the paddock of The Sower.

The Father of lies excels in producing fables that separate us in our minds from the union with God that is ours. This is a strategy that works because we create our reality our of our notion of truth.

If Satan can get us to live in a robbed reality that leeches out the fullness that is ours in Christ, he has stifled the effect of Christ’s work for us and hindered the advance of the Kingdom. This robs us personally of spirit and life and creates a community culture that works against the spirit of sonship – debilitates it so that people are workers but not sons in spirit and in truth.

Paddocks of tares grow from a distorted gospel, a false christ and the idol of ‘my perspective.’

The sulking manager claimed the Master was ‘a hard man and left his inheritance in the ground because he trusted his own law-keeping more than he trusted Christ to be His life.

It's small comfort to speak of our inclusion in the Body of Christ when our spirit and our soul is crippled because we are addicted to the identity we have in our ‘other gospel.’ When faced with the truth of our inheritance in Christ we can skip like calves let out of the pen or we can sulk and burry our heads in the sand of favourite notions and imagined identity.

Jesus pictured fields of wheat and fields of tares. The tares are sons of God living in a real gospel and not some confected gospel of their own devising. The sons of the Evil one are living in a gospel that is ‘another gospel’ and claiming to be the Kingdom when they are not the Kingdom. They are not bad or immoral people. They have just been seduced into believing a narrative from the wrong father.

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!” Gal 1.8 NIV.

# A false christ need not be an occult figure. It can be a distorted gospel and a distorted christ.

* Grace is not a license to continue in a distorted gospel.
